Who are we?

a non-profit ministry operated through the volunteer efforts of New Prospect Church and other Pine Bush churches.

Too many times . . . people facing a crisis such as illness, family disruption, or poverty, must choose between buying food or paying for clothing, heat or medical care.

No one should go hungry!

How are we funded?

Private donations - some made in memorium to loved ones

Local civic, church, & school organizations

Where do we get our food?

we shop at the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley in Cornwall, a branch of the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY

through food drives operated by local Boy Scouts, schools, and Curves for Women (Pine Bush)

What are the Requirements for Shopping at the Food Pantry?

NEED brought on through loss of work, disability, single parent at home with small children, low income

INCOME following USDA guidelines your income must not be more than 185% of poverty level

RESIDE in Pine Bush Central school district

How much food will I get?

Our operation is set up to allow you to shop for what you need and what your family will eat. We know children are picky or sometimes there are dietary restrictions. We don’t want to give you what you won’t use. Each time you shop, you should expect to receive three days worth of food for your family. Obviously, this should be supplementary to your regular grocery shopping.

How often can I shop?

You can shop with us every other week.

Where do I sign up?

Come to the food pantry during our regular shopping hours and a volunteer will register you. You WILL be able to shop on your first visit.

Does this sound like you?

I’m a single mom/dad and just lost my job/was hurt on the job/can no longer work - I applied for food stamps but they said I’d have to wait 3 weeks - Can I shop at the food pantry? YES!

I’m a housewife/mom and my husband was just laid off his job - Can we get food at the pantry until he’s working again? YES!

My husband and I both work, but we barely make enough to pay the rent and utility bills. Do we qualify for the food pantry? YES! As long as your combined income is not more than USDA requirements.

I live on my social security? Do you think I qualify? More than likely. Check our chart.

I always managed to make ends meet, but now, my dependent mother/child/grandchildren are living with me on a permanent/temporary basis and I don’t get additional support for them. Can you help? YES!

My husband/wife just left me with the children. How will we manage? Let us help!

YOU CAN HELP!

Donate food, paper goods, toiletry items, baby food.

Volunteer to help shoppers during shopping hours, stock shelves, pick up food.
